The Curious Mind Behind Munwalker: A Founder's Journey

Hey friends,

I am Sabin Pokharel I created this website called Munwalker, and I would like to take you on a journey. A journey that began with an uncontrollable thrust to learn.

Roots of a Lifelong Learner

I grew up in a beautiful village at the foot of the mountains of Sindhuli district. My father is a teacher, and so are my uncles. I had an environment that supported learning. But the twist here is there was no good school nearby; I had to go uphills for 1.5 hours for my basic level education. Imagine at the age of 5-6 doing up and down in the forest with no trees, with the scorching heat of 35 degrees Celsius, every day.

A Winding Road to Self-Discovery

My father sent me away to my aunt's house. My brother and sister were small so they stayed home with parents. I was in grade 1 when I went to my aunt's house on foot, 150 Km away. Staying there, I got introduced to the English language at school. I had a basic knowledge of English alphabets and numbers beyond that nothing.

So it was challenging there but I continued to learn there. I was good at science and math. Not that good but I understood the meanings and concepts. I stayed there for two years, and then I got sick so I came back to my home, where I continued my studies for three years.

Again, I moved with my brother and sister and my grandparents to Biratnagar. I was ready to start again. Then I got sick again, and this time it was terrible. I joined the school lately; I repeated grade 6. This time my English improved.

I changed school again. I joined a famous government school in the area. I continued my studies up to high school there. I did not have any good friends except my brother until 8th grade. But at that government school, I found my buddy. Opposite of my nature but of the same interests. Interest in building things. Sometimes on holiday, my brother and my friends would gather up in our house and my friends to build things. Sometimes we built music speakers, flashlights, and nothing more than that. we were limited of resources and education.

The Digital Awakening

When I was in 10th grade, my father bought us a computerโ€”not fancy in specs but it could browse the internet. That was the first time I got to know about the internet.

Me and my brother would stay up late at night and browse the internet to learn about various things. we tried and tested the internet. Then covid happened. I learned about many things at that time. This time something happened, and a seed was planted in my brain to start something. I learned and studied many books and browsed most of the internet.

The Birth of Munwalker

After the covid in 2021, I created an international bank account to register for the SAT exam. I was left with 8 dollars in my account. With that money, I registered munwalker.com

For two years I only posted about 20 to 30 posts and I had zero viewers, still not more than 100. Now I am serious about munwalker. I have learned a lot in these two years and I am ready to share that with the world.
